Freshen Up Your Cabinets Without Replacing Them
Cabinet painting and refinishing can give your kitchen or bathroom a completely different look without the cost, demolition, or disruption of traditional cabinet replacement. Rosewood Home Remodeling partners with homeowners across Northern Utah to breathe new life into dated or worn cabinets, all at a price that makes sense.
Depending on the cabinets you have and the look you want, there are two different ways to update them. Painting creates a clean, new color, while refinishing brings the natural character of the wood back into focus. We’ll help you compare both options and determine which approach makes the most sense for you.

Cabinet Painting vs. Cabinet Refinishing
Cabinet painting changes the appearance of your cabinetry with an opaque finish or light stain. Rather than stripping the cabinets down to bare wood, the existing surface is carefully prepared so the new finish can bond properly. It’s a good choice if you want a noticeable color change, such as taking dated honey oak cabinets to a clean white, without replacing the cabinet boxes or hardware.
Cabinet refinishing takes a different approach. The existing finish is stripped away to expose the natural wood grain, then a new color and finish are applied while keeping your cabinet boxes, components, and fixtures in place. Refinishing makes sense if you like the look and character of real wood and want that grain to remain part of the finished design.
Your best option will depend on your cabinet material, their current condition, and the look you have in mind. When you reach out to Rose Home Remodeling, we’ll talk through all the details and make a recommendation.

The Rosewood Process: Off-Site Cabinet Finishing for a Cleaner Result
Cabinet work requires a different level of preparation than painting walls or trim. Instead of completing every step inside your home, Rosewood Home Remodeling removes cabinet doors and drawer fronts and takes them to our shop for professional cleaning and finishing.
Kitchen cabinets can collect years of grease, cooking residue, fingerprints, and everyday grime. If those contaminants stay on the surface, even a high-quality finish can struggle to bond properly. That’s why doors and drawer fronts go through a dedicated cleaning process before finishing begins. Completing the doors and drawer fronts off-site also reduces the amount of equipment and finishing activity inside your home.
Once the surfaces are clean, we apply a bonding primer to ensure a strong foundation for the topcoat. Proper priming is one of the most important steps in creating a cabinet finish that lasts in busy spaces. The final topcoat is a high-quality lacquer that provides a smooth, professional finish and the durability cabinets need. Built-in cabinet boxes are completed on-site, typically within one to two days depending on the number of cabinets, colors, and overall scope of the project.

What to Expect From Freshly Painted or Refinished Cabinets
The difference should be immediately noticeable. Cabinets that once looked dull, worn, or dated have a more consistent finish and a cleaner overall appearance. With refinishing, the natural grain remains visible and becomes part of the finished look. With painting, you get crisp, even color that gives the cabinetry an entirely new direction.
Cabinet painting or refinishing is a practical way to refresh a kitchen or bathroom without tearing out cabinetry that still works well. There are no new cabinet boxes to install and no need to rebuild the entire room. Instead, the surfaces you already have are updated to better fit the surrounding space.
Every cabinet painting and refinishing project is backed by Rosewood Home Remodeling’s five-year craftsmanship warranty, covering both labor and materials. Rosewood has served Northern Utah since 1989 and completes its painting work with emphasis on communication and cleanliness.

Honest Answers to Common Questions About Cabinet Painting and Refinishing
Refinishing updates the color and finish of the cabinetry you already have, either through painting or by stripping and applying a new stain and finish. Refacing replaces cabinet doors and drawer fronts while leaving the cabinet boxes in place. Rosewood provides cabinet painting and refinishing and can help you determine whether either option fits what you want to accomplish.
Built-in cabinet boxes are typically completed in one to two days on-site, depending on the colors and scope of the project. Doors and drawer fronts are finished separately at our shop. Before work begins, we’ll explain the expected schedule so you know when each part of the project will take place.
It’s a good idea to make anything you use regularly easy to access before work begins. Since the cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed for off-site finishing, the interiors will remain exposed for part of the project. We’ll go over preparation details with you before scheduling.
Both. Kitchen cabinets make up many of these projects, but bathroom vanities and other built-in cabinetry can also be painted or refinished. The preparation and finishing products are selected with the moisture and everyday use common in bathrooms in mind.

Mitch and the Rosewood Team are true pros! Outstanding quality with great communication and attention to their clients’ budget. They recently repaired an exterior door for me that I was certain would need replacing. They did excellent work and saved me several thousand dollars compared to what a full replacement would have cost.
All around a top notch and professional contractors. I had a great experience with their customer service in getting a quote and set up for a cabinet painting job at my home. The team lead for the project Ben and his crew member Drake were very professional and friendly. They did a phenomenal job on our cabinets and cleaned up everything thoroughly. Couldn’t have asked for a better team!
